How this is written

We draft with AI, we check every claim against its primary source, and a named person decides what publishes. Here is the whole process, including the parts most publishers leave out.

The short version

Articles on this site are drafted with the help of AI, checked line by line against primary sources, and reviewed by a named person before they publish. Every health claim carries a citation you can open. When we get something wrong, we fix it in public.

We would rather tell you that than have you wonder.

Why we work this way

The hard part of evidence-based health writing is not the writing. It is the reading: opening every trial, checking whether the paper actually says what the summary claims, noticing that a figure quoted everywhere traces back to the wrong arm of the study.

That work is enormous, unglamorous, and exactly the kind of thing machines are good at. Used well, AI lets a small team hold a standard that would otherwise need a large one.

We can show you what that is worth rather than assert it. In August 2026 we checked every figure in this library against its primary source. Seven were wrong, all inherited from material we had adapted: a trial duration, two efficacy numbers, a guideline attributed to a body that never published it, a dose arm relabelled as a different dose, and a claim about treatment eligibility that would have discouraged people the evidence supports treating.

None of those errors looked wrong on the page. Every one of them was found by opening the paper.

What the machine does

Drafting, structuring, and the first pass of source-checking. Finding the primary literature, pulling the actual numbers out of it, and flagging where a claim and its citation have drifted apart.

What a person does

Everything that involves judgement.

What is worth publishing. Whether the evidence supports a claim strongly, weakly, or not at all. Where to be cautious. When a subject is too close to individual medical advice to cover the way we would like. What to leave out.

A named person reviews and approves every article before it publishes. Today that is Rick Natsch, our co-founder, and it will remain a named individual as the team grows rather than becoming a process nobody owns. We are also actively looking for named clinical reviewers, which is the thing we most want to add to this page.

Text on the published site is edited directly by a person as well, so what you read has had human hands on it after the draft stage as well as before.

What we will not do

  • We will not fabricate a citation. Every source on this site was opened and checked. If we cannot find the evidence, we say the evidence is thin rather than inventing support for it.
  • We will not publish AI-generated testimonials, reviews, or endorsements, or present AI as a person, or put words in a real person’s mouth.
  • We will not use AI to manufacture certainty. Where the research is mixed or unsettled, the article says so. That is a judgement call, and a person makes it.
  • We will not quietly correct. Fixes are marked on the article and recorded on our corrections page.

Where the evidence sits

Every field note ends with its sources, listed and linked, so you can check our reading against the paper rather than taking our word for it. We consider that the minimum, not a feature.

Where a claim rests on reasoning rather than data, we say so in the article. One of our notes on grey-market sourcing does exactly that, and states plainly that its argument is structural rather than evidenced by a published assay series.

Corrections

Evidence moves and people make mistakes, including ours. Our corrections policy sets out what happens next: the article is fixed, a dated note is added to it, and the correction is logged where anyone can read it.

The log is currently empty, and that page explains honestly why: nothing here has been published long enough to need one yet.
